Prince Rupert welcomed more than 4,700 tourists on Friday, as this year’s cruise ship season enters the home stretch.
It was the highest single-day total of a season which will see a total of nearly 60,000 passengers come through the Port.
Many of those came from the May addition of Princess Cruise’s Ruby Princess to the schedule, which made 13 stops at the port, each capable of holding 3,080 passengers.
According to the Prince Rupert Port Authority, the addition of the Ruby Princess more than doubled their expected passenger total at the time.
But, it was another Princess Cruise vessel, the Grand Princess, that combined with Holland America’s Nieuw Amsterdam to make up Friday’s total.
Just four sailings, with a capacity of just under 3,000 passengers, remain on the schedule for this season, with the last stop coming on October 3rd.
