Coastal GasLink’s 670 km pipeline from Groundbirch to Kitimat has now officially surpassed the 70 percent completion mark.
According to CGL’s September construction update, the project is now 72 percent complete, with pipeline now st least partially installed in all 8 sections.
September saw the beginning of pipeline installation on Section 7, the last section to see installation work begin.
But, it is also the section which runs under the Wedzin Kwa, or Morice River, the health of which has been the main source of contention over the project.
Equipment was set up this month to begin drilling under the river, a process the Wet’suwet’en Hereditary Chiefs say they will continue to fight.
Work on the Wilde Lake Compressor facility, which will serve as the starting point of the pipeline, is also nearing completion.
