A newly signed Memorandum of Understanding lays the groundwork for the Prophet River First Nation to establish a new Urban Reserve.
Signed betwee the Nation and City of Fort St John, the agreement looks to identify matters of mutual interest as the parties work together to develop the Reserve.
It establishes principles that will guide their engagements, including a joint planning process that respects the governance structure, autonomy, and jurisdiction of each.
Under the agreement, the City will provide services such as water, waste collection, fire protection, and more, while the Nation will institute their own government support services.
