Planned Pile Burning in the Bulkley Valley Could Have Residents Seeing Smoke Over the Next Month

A number of planned burns in the Bulkley Fire Zone mean smoke may be visible from Smithers, Telkwa, and surrounding areas over the next month.

Between now and October 28th, the Wildfire Service will be conducting 5 planned pile burns to reduce future wildfire fuels.

Those burns are planned for: the gravel pit near Driftwood Provincial Park, Call Lake Provincial Park, the Twin Falls Recreation Site, and along Chapman Road and Old Babine Lake Road.

Multiple piles will be burned at each site, and the timing of all of the burns will be weather dependent.
