It was announced earlier today by the Federal Government that $11.1 million in funding will be headed the way of the University of British Columbia via the Pacific Economic Development Agency of Canada.
The main reason for said funding is to allow UBC to work on two projects that are expected to improve mRNA vaccine technology.
One project will see $3.5 million of the funding and it will be used to optimize how mRNA vaccines are administered on a cellular level, improving uptake into the body and as a result, it could potentially reduce side effects.
The other project will use the other $7.6 million to try and to identify and address new COVID-19 variants before they can spread by studying existing variants at the molecular level.
Both of these projects will officially be overseen by PacifiCan.
