Residents of the northwest looking to cast an early ballot in this year’s municipal elections will get their first chance to do so today.
In Terrace, advanced polling booths will be set up at the Sportsplex until 8:00 tonight.
While Sean Bujtas has already been acclaimed as the City’s next mayor, 15 individuals are vying to fill six council seats.
Prince Rupert residents can cast advanced ballots at the Rec Complex on McBride Street through 8:00 as well.
They will be looking to elect a new mayor, with Herb Pond, Stephen Fitzpatrick, Jason Hoang, and Chrystopher Thompson all looking to fill Lee Brain’s former spot.
In Kitimat, the Tamatik Jubilee Sports Complex will also be hosting an advanced voting opportunity until 8:00.
Phil Germuth is returning for another term as mayor, but 9 individuals have put their names forward to fill 6 council spots.
Voters will also be voting for Regional District Directors and School Board Trustees, with more advanced voting opportunities available on the 12th.
Regular voting day is scheduled for the 15th, and mail in ballots are available at City Halls through 4:00 on October 13th.
