In an announcement that was made last week, it was made know that Canada will be temporarily allowing international post secondary students to work more than 20 hours a week in order to help mitigate labour shortages.
As for the local effects of this decision, Coast Mountain College’s Director of Marketing & Recruitment Heather Bastin gave a statement saying that this decision would really help the students with their financial flexibility and give a boost to local businesses.
However, the Federal Government has not let it be known if they will allow students to extend their study permits.
According to their most recent report, CMC’s student population over their three BC campuses in Terrace, Smithers and Prince George is comprised of around 20 percent international students and 80 percent domestic students.
