Health employers represented by the Facilities Bargaining Association have become the first to ratify a new deal under the province’s Shared Recovery Mandate.
In total, the Association represents more than 60,000 workers from among 9 unions, the largest of which is the Hospital Employees’ Union.
They represent workers from hundreds of occupations, including: lab assistants, care aides, record clerks, dietary and cleaning staff, nursing unit assistants, maintenance workers, and more.
Under the 3-year deal, workers will see a wage increase of $0.25 plus 3.24 percent in the first year, an increase of up to 6.75 percent in year two, and a 2 to 3 percent increase in year three.
It also looks to advance Indigenous specific anti-racism issues, increase retention and recruitment, reduce employee turnover, and more.
