NDP leadership candidate Anjali Appadurai has announced how she plans to tackle the province’s health care issues.
Her plan involves up-scaling of Community Health Centres to provide improved collaboration between multiple health care positions to provide better outcomes.
She also plans to increase access to culturally appropriate primary care for Indigenous peoples, invest in improved ventillation in schools, and implement a Safe Supply Program to tackle the toxic drug crisis.
In an effort to keep nurses in BC, the plan also includes a 25 percent pay raise for nurses, alongside built-in cost of living protections.
Appadurai says she will also work towards long-term structural solutions to supportive housing, in collaboration with First Nations and local governments.
Currently, Appadurai’s campaign has been facing backlash from fellow NDP members over alleged membership manipulation, prompting an on-going investigation which may see her campaign pulled.
