A combined investment of over $25 million will bring 40 new, culturally appropriate, rental housing units to the Kitselas First Nation.
Federal and provincial officials joined Chief Glenn Bennet to break ground on the new on-reserve housing units today.
Located at 2350 Gitaus Road, the development will see a mix of one, two, and three bedroom units, with 32 being wheelchair accessible or adaptable.
Operated by the Kitselas Housing Society, the project will bring much needed housing for families, elders, youth, and members with disabilities.
In total, Ottawa is investing roughly $7 million in the project, while BC is providing a further $2 million.
