Indigenous peoples in Prince George at risk of or experiencing homelessness will soon have access to 35 new rental homes.
Located at 1919 17th Avenue, the units are part of the second phase of a four-phase project, funded by the province.
Operated by the Aboriginal Housing Society of Prince George, the three-storey building will feature accessible studio units, with a fixed rental rate of $375 per month.
Staff will be on-site to provide meals, employment training, health care referrals and more, as well as child-care services through an on-site centre with 40 spaces.
Residents will also soon have access to community and culturally appropriate programming, through the Society’s future community centre.
Phase one of the project was completed in March, and brought 50 affordable rental homes for Elders, seniors, and families to the community.
Murals created by local Indigenous artists Trevor Angus and Damian John will fill the space between the adjoining buildings.
