An agreement between the Tahltan Central Government and the Province of BC has been reached that will see both sides work together toward the development and implementation of a top class wildlife regime.
This regime is expected to be led by Tahltan knowledge that will both protect and preserve Tahltan wildlife, culture and way of life.
The agreement, known as the Tahltan Central Government – British Columbia Accord on Wildlife Management, has the vision of establishing a wildlife stewardship regime in Tahltan Territory in order to address concerns that the Tahltan have about wildlife.
The main focus of the regime appears to be the restoration of the caribou population and the management of predators.
The agreement is also expected to build upon the efforts both parties have given throughout the years to enhance the province’s wildlife.
