In a news release recently published by the Carrier Sekani Family Services, a project known as the Burns Lake Foundry project is moving into it’s design phase.
BC has seen multiple Foundry centres get opened across the Province to act as sites for health, mental wellness and substance-use services for youth.
And now the Burns Lake centre officially has a confirmed site, which is 686 McPhail Rd. across from Lakes District Secondary School.
The reason that site was chosen is because the visibility, accessibility and proximity of the location to the high school makes it an ideal location to support youth, with the site provided through partnership between CSFS and the School District.
Now $4.1 million will have to be raised in order to actually go through with the centre’s construction.
This project is being guided by a Leadership Advisory Committee made up of all the leadership groups in Burns Lake and its development has been made possible via funding partnerships with Foundry Central and with support from the Province of BC; Indigenous Services Canada and Carrier Sekani Family Services.
