Permanent regulatory changes that will see the widespread sale and use of second-generation rodenticides banned are being made by the Province of BC.
Those types of rodenticides have been known to be a poison threat to animals that eat poisoned rodents.
So in order to try and mitigate this risk, BC is banned the sue and sale of Second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides for 18 months back in July of last year.
And after getting around 1,600 consultation responses, it has been decided that permanent changes to the revised Integrated Pest Management Regulation, permanently banning these rodenticides for all members of the public and most businesses, will come into effect on Jan. 21st next year.
The changes are expected to reduce unnecessary pesticide use by businesses and force them to work on other methods of pest control that are less toxic.
