A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held last week to officially open a new state-of-the-art playground in Prince Rupert.
Elders, Hereditary Chiefs, school students and officials, and more all gathered as the site was blessed and speeches on the importance of the playground were given.
Its completion was a long time in the making, after ten years of lobbying for funding by the school’s Parent Action Committee.
They ended up contributing $37,000 of the roughly $500,000 price tag, while the Prince Rupert Port Authority pitched in $220,000.
Among the new equipment at the playground is: a wheelchair accessible see-saw, an oodle swing useable by several kids at once, a Super Netplex climbing structure, and more.
