Last night, Prince Rupert’s City Council meeting was used to swear in the city’s new council as well as their new mayor.
First, the council of Wade Niesh, Teri Foster, Nick Adey, Barry Cunningham, Reid Skelton- Morven and Gurvinder Randhawa took their oath.
And after that, Prince Rupert’s new mayor Herb Pond was sworn into his new position.
Then, gifts were presented to outgoing councillor Blair Mirau and outgoing mayor Lee Brain, both of whom decided not to run for re-election in the October race.
MLA Jennifer Rice and Port Edward mayor Knut Bjorndal were in attendance at the meeting as well.
A similar ceremony also took place during Kitimat and Terrace’s council meetings last night as well.
