Three new PacifiCan offices have now opened in Northern BC, and with them comes funding for 11 new projects in the region.
PacifiCan is the branch of the federal government’s economic development agency dedicated to economic growth in British Columbia.
Today they celebrated the opening of offices in Prince Rupert, Prince George, and Fort St John, their first three locations in the North.
During the ceremony, International Development Minister Harjit Sajjan, also announced a total of $3.1 million in funding for 11 projects.
Tumbler Ridge will get the largest chunk of that funding, with $750,000 going towards sidewalk, road, and shared space rehabilitation.
Between $300,000 and $500,000 will also go towards community revitalization projects in Dawson Creek, Williams Lake, and Charlie Lake.
A number of communities will also receive funding for tourism projects, such as the $99,000 going to the Xeni Gwet’in Nation to renovate visitors lodges.
