A project to bring a bulk liquids storage facility to Ridley Island is one step closer to fruition, after completing their Federal environmental review.
If approved, the facility would store Liquid Petroleum Gas Products such as propane, Clean Petroleum Products such as diesel and gasoline, and methanol.
Proposed by Vopak Development Canada, the project has now completed its Federal environmental effects evaluation review.
Conducted by the Prince Rupert Port Authority, Environment and Climate Change Canada, and Transport Canada, the review determined the project is not likely to cause adverse environmental effects.
Local First Nations were also consulted with by Federal authorities during the review process, regarding the project’s potential impacts on them.
With the project receiving its Environmental Assessment Certificate from BC in April, it has now completed both the Provincial and Federal environmental review processes.
A number of other Federal authorizations and permits are still required before the project can go ahead.
