A unique new piece of Ts’msyen artwork looks to inspire students at Charles Hayes Secondary School in Prince Rupert for generations to come.
Carved by renowned Ts’msyen artist Russel Mather, the new double-sided crest pole was unveiled in the school’s learning commons yesterday.
Featuring carvings of wolves, eagles, and other traditional designs visible from all angles, the piece has been aptly named the 360 pole.
Numerous guest carvers, including students from the school, played a hand in crafting the pole over the past couple of years.
School District 52 says they look forward to the learning opportunities and sharing of cultural knowledge the pole will inspire.
