A new ship escort and docking service is coming to Prince Rupert in the new year, thanks in part to the Gitxaala Nation.
A partnership between the Nation, through their Gitxaala Enterprises Corporation, and the Seaspan Marine Corporation will see a number of high-efficiency 65T bollard tugboats stationed in Prince Rupert.
Beginning on January 1st, those tugs will be available for marine docking and escorting services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Gitxaala Chief Councillor Linda Innes says the service will allow the Nation to utilize their knowledge and experience while developing long-term jobs and economic opportunities.
