Environment Canada is now expecting the frigid cold from the past few days to extend into the weekend on the North and Central Coasts.
An arctic outflow warning issued earlier this week covering both coastal and inland sections of the coasts has been maintained through the weekend.
That means temperatures in Terrace, Kitimat, Prince Rupert, and the surrounding areas could dip below -20 after windchill.
At temperatures that cold, exposed human skin can catch frostbit in as few as 15 minutes, and the risks of hypothermia increase significantly.
