Eight projects in the Peace Region will be splitting nearly $181,000 in grant funding to support agriculture related activities.
Just over $80,000 will help the Peace River Forage Association conduct research on how the use of prescribed burns impacts soil carbon storage.
Zoe Newton in Taylor will get $31,000 to establish a three-acre orchard to provide direct access to and education on local fruits.
Funding will also go to a number of groups to establish education programs, marketing conferences, training programs, and much more.
Those investments come from the BC Hydro Peace Agricultural Compensation Fund, which has provided over $1.7 million in funds since 2018.
