Prince Rupert residents remain under a local state of emergency, prompted by a series of water main breaks which began on Saturday.
There are currently three active water main breaks in the City, on Crestview Drive, 7th Avenue East, and 1st Avenue East, with one additional break happening last night.
As a result, there are 6 active water service breaks, with a team of three contractors and two sub contractors working on repairs around the clock with City crews.
Emergency personnel state that there may be an uptick in leaks when temperatures start rise again next week causing ground thawing to shift pipes.
It is recommended to keep 4 Litres of water per resident in your household for a 72 hour period, in case of emergency.
But, City staff are stressing that, as there is no water quality advisory, it is perfectly safe to draw that water from your taps, rather than purchase it.
Residents are also being asked to run their taps at a slow drip in order to prevent freezing.
If you notice significantly reduced water pressure, but find no signs of a break in your home, contact the City at 250 624 6795, or at 250 624 3000 after hours.
