For the sixth year in a row, the Town of Smithers and Village of Telkwa are joining forces in an effort to secure emergency preparedness funds.
Last week, the communities submitted a joint-grant application for the Union of BC Municipalities’ Community Emergency Preparedness Fund.
If successful, as they have been every year since 2018, the application would net the pair a total of $60,000.
Past investments from the Fund have been instrumental in developing and modernizing the Bulkley Emergency Support Services Team.
As part of their last regular meeting, Smithers Council agreed to fully manage the funds and any related purchasing, on behalf of both communities.
