It’s the seventh day of a local state of emergency in Prince Rupert, as City crews continue to deal with one remaining water main break.
That’s down from three active breaks when the order was issued on Saturday, with the last remaining break located on 1st Avenue East.
But, crews are prepared for more breaks in the coming days as temperatures warm up and the ground begins to thaw and shift.
There are currently 6 active water service breaks on the City-side and 5 more on the homeowner side.
City officials continue to ask homeowners to run their taps at a slow drip to prevent freezing, and to avoid calling the City unless it’s an emergency.
Residents are also advised to keep 4 Litres of water on-hand per resident, in case of emergency, which can be filled from your taps.
If you notice significantly reduced water pressure, but find no signs of a break in your home, contact the City at 250 624 6795, or at 250 624 3000 after hours.
