Northern Health is looking to begin construction on a new state-of-the-art hospital replacement in Dawson Creek early next year.
But after being unable to reach an agreement with the previously selected contractor, they’ll need to find someone to build it first.
With the design phase now roughly 60 percent complete, the province is set to enter the next stage of the procurement process.
A request for proposals will be re-issued later this month, with a proponent being selected and construction getting underway shortly after.
Covering nearly 20,000 square metres, the new hospital will feature 70 beds, 15 emergency beds, plus mental-health services, a range of surgical and perinatal services, and more.
It is expected to start accepting patients in 2027, with the current hospital remaining open during construction.
