BC Hydro has provided an update on the status of Prince Rupert area outages after a heavy snowfall which saw over 800 residents without power.
Prince Rupert, Lax Kwalaams, and Port Edward have all been affected by the prolonged outages.
Though BC Hydro estimates that by 6 pm tonight, Lax Kwalaams residents may see their power restored.
Prince Rupert and Port Edward may have to wait a bit longer though as there are currently no estimated times of restoration due to the severity of damage to power lines and weather conditions.
There are now 4 outage locations and 260 customers currently powerless in Port Edward and 470 residents in 5 outage locations in Prince Rupert.
Updates will be made regularly on BC Hydro’s website, and they wish to remind people that if you see a downed power line, assume it’s live, remain at least 10 feet away and call 911.
