Long-awaited remediation work on the on-going McConnell Crescent landslide in Terrace is expected to get underway tomorrow.
Issues in the area stem from a 2017 landslide on the Kitsumkalum Escarpment, which has led to severe bank erosion in the years since.
That has, in turn, resulted in an increase in both the frequency and severity of landslides in the area.
After months of planning, the City has now awarded the work contract to Progressive Ventures Construction, Bear Creek Construction, and McElhanney.
An environmental permit for the required in-stream works has already been approved by both Federal and Provincial regulators.
Last month, the owners of the evacuated property filed lawsuits against the City over their failure to solve the issues.
