Temporary curtailments are set to continue at a pair of lumber mills in the Cariboo.
On December 28th, Tolko Industries extended Christmas downtime at their Soda Creek and Armstrong Lumber Divisions through January.
Now, high log costs and a weak lumber market have forced them to further extend the shutdown through February.
According to the company, the curtailments will reduce production by approximately 35 million board feet, and will impact over 350 jobs.
Meanwhile, operations are set to resume at Tolko’s White Valley and Armstrong Plywood Divisions, following a fire late last month.
