Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Taylor Bachrach is continuing to push the Liberal government for better air passenger protections.
As NDP Transportation critic, Bachrach has been highly critical of Canada’s Air Passenger Protection Regulations in recent weeks.
He says that when the Liberals designed the regulations, they left massive loopholes which allow airlines to avoid paying compensation.
In question period yesterday, Bachrach chastised the Liberals for failing to fine airlines for utilizing those loopholes to avoid paying passengers.
That comes as thousands of Canadians fight for compensation after being stranded in airports over the holidays due to flight cancellations.
Despite a backlog of over 33,000 complaints, customers are needing to wait over a year to even have theirs heard.
