Newly completed upgrades to their community kitchen will ensure the Salvation Army can continue to support Prince Rupert’s growing needs.
Those upgrades will bring the facility in line with commercial standards, improve safety, and expand the area to serve more people.
Located at their Family Services Centre, the upgraded kitchen includes a walk-in freezer and fridge, expanded dry food storage, plus new commercial-grade equipment.
Additional supplies will also help them expand soup kitchen services, provide more food hampers, and more.
Through those renovations, the Salvation army will be able to relocate many services, such as their Community Food Bank, under one roof.
In total, the project cost roughly $1.15 million, with $450,000 of that coming from the Prince Rupert Port Authority’s Community Investment Fund.
A grand opening event, titled Soup for the Soul, is being hosted by the PRPA and Salvation Army beginning at noon on March 3rd.
