Two RCMP detachments teamed up on Monday to arrest a man who opened fire on a Kitwanga rest stop, before fleeing across the northwest.
Witnesses reported the man pulling into the lot in a pick-up truck and speeding around in circles while flashing his high beams.
After finally parking his truck, the man approached and attempted to open the door of a parked commercial vehicle
When he failed, he returned to his truck, retrieved a gun and fired several shots into the bushes surrounding the rest stop, before fleeing the scene.
Smithers RCMP later located the vehicle near Kleanza Creek and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
But the suspect responded by trying to ram the police vehicle, narrowly missing two officers, before speeding away in the direction of Terrace.
Terrace RCMP were eventually able to arrest the 30 year-old driver after deploying a spike strip to deflate his tires.
No one was harmed during the spree, and police are continuing to investigate.
