Avalanche Canada is advising residents of the North Coast to avoid travel near all natural avalanche terrain today.
Danger ratings remain locked at stage 4 for sections of the north coast west of Kitwanga and north of Hartley Bay.
That is the second highest level on their scale and denotes a high likelihood of large avalanches, both natural and human-caused.
Residents are advised to avoid travel in the backcountry, or near large cliffs, slabs, or mountainsides wherever possible.
Over the past week, some areas have seen more than 100 cms of heavy snow pile on to an already weak snowpack.
Danger ratings are set to stage 3, or considerable risk, for the remainder of the Stikine and Bulkley Valley, and in the Peace Region and Cariboo.
