One Prince Rupert RCMP officer is getting a headstart on a chilling fundraiser, and challenging other detachments to do the same.
Constable Brodie Hemrich took a dive into the frigid waters of Seal Cove this morning to raise funds for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
While it doesn’t officially get started until February 18th, his leap was part of Special Olympics BC’s Polar Plunge Campaign.
That campaign looks to help fund their year-round sports, youth, and health programs, which simultaneously empower participants.
His leap was accompanied by a personal donation of $100, which Constable Hemrich is challenging the Terrace, Kitimat, and West Coast Marine detachments to match.
