Two of the industry’s biggest players are leaving the Canadian LNG Alliance, in favour of the First Nations LNG Alliance.
LNG Canada and FortisBC are set to make the transition next month, as part of an agreement between the two groups.
Their exit comes just two months after the Canadian Alliance lost CEO Bryan Cox to Petronas Canada.
With the departure of the province’s two most active LNG participants, the Alliance is now down to just two members.
Based in BC, the First Nations Alliance was formed in 2014 to ensure First Nations are active participants, partners, and proponents in LNG development.
Now, they have reached an agreement to lead development and future exports going forward on behalf of industry and First Nations across Canada.
