LNG Canada is set to begin restoration work at Sumgas Creek in Kitimat in the coming days.
In the 1950s, a number of barriers were installed in the creek, rendering it impassable by fish swimming upstream.
Over the next few months, crews will be working to remove those barriers, returning the creek to its natural state.
In addition, the project will see the construction of new and improved public pathways, complete with new benches, and increased lighting.
Work will begin with tree clearing this month, with the project as a whole expected to wrap-up this fall.
In the meantime, residents may experience intermittent interruptions to road and walkway traffic on Haisla Boulevard between Nalabila and Kuldo.
