Nechako Lakes MLA John Rustad has joined the Conservative Party of BC, after being kicked out of the Liberal Caucus last summer.
Rustad was removed from the party last August after sharing a disproven social media post questioning the impacts of carbon emissions on climate change.
But, it wasn’t the first time he had publicly questioned the science behind climate change, with comments dating back to 2019.
Prior to his removal, Rustad had served as a member of the Liberal Party for nearly 17 years.
Now, he’ll cross the aisle and become the Conservative Party’s first sitting member in legislature since 2012.
On his decision, Rustad says his new party is the only one in BC fighting for a stronger, freer, and more compasionate province.
