Welcome to Journeys with Kelly Kenny. Tonights guest is Cameron Fraser-Monroe.Cameron Fraser-Monroe is a member of the Tla’amin First Nation, as well as being of Ukrainian and Scottish descent. The Tla’amin First Nation, formerly Sliammon Indian Band or Sliammon First Nation, is a First Nations self governing nation whose lands and traditional territories are located on the upper Sunshine Coast in southwestern British Columbia.
Cameron is here to share his love for dance and choreography. In this interview we talk about his upbringing, family life, and his undying love for dance in all capacities. Since graduating from the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, Cameron is now the first Artist in residence at Ballet Kelowna. We reminisce about his production “Taqeš” (pronounced TawKesh) with music by Jeremy Dutcher. “Taqeš” means “to return something”. Cameron speaks about working with Ballet Kelowna as a coming home feeling having worked with them previously.
