For the first time in the event’s history, a First Nation’s community has been named as one of the official hosts of the BC Winter Games.
Each year, the event brings together thousands of the province’s top athletes to compete for top spot in a wide range of sports.
Next year’s edition of the games will take place on the traditional territory of the Lhtako Dene Nation, in the City of Quesnel.
In recognition of the partnership between the two communities, the event will officially be titled the Lhtako Quesnel 2024 BC Winter Games.
This year’s version of the games, meanwhile, will get underway in Vernon on March 23rd.
