One count of manslaughter has been approved in connection with a 2021 death at the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital.
RCMP were called out to the hospital on November 5th of that year after staff reported a patient had attacked another patient unprovoked.
As a result, the victim had suffered serious injuries, which they would eventually succumb to less than a week later.
Police launched a comprehensive homicide investigation, resulting in the charges being approved by the BC Prosecution Service.
RCMP say the accused is being held in custody and presents no threat to the public, though they will not be releasing a name now that the matter is before the courts.
