Residents of Gitlaxt’aamiks are being asked to lock their doors and remain vigilant as RCMP continue the search for a robbery suspect.
They are, however, stressing that there is no lockdown, and there is not believed to be any direct risk to the public.
Lisims-Nass Valley RCMP were called out to a residence in the Village just before 3:30 yesterday afternoon for reports of the robbery.
A man had reportedly forced his way into the home while brandishing a handgun, prompting the resident to flee through a window.
Police believe that the suspect may have then fled the scene in a blue Audi.
They are continuing to search for the suspect, but do not believe there to be any on-going threat to the community.
Anyone with information which may help locate the suspect should contact Lisims-Nass Valley RCMP at 250 633 2222.

Schools will open as usual, and buses will be running as scheduled.
RCMP have revealed little information about the incident, which prompted them to notify the Village Government last night.
They had asked residents to avoid going out overnight if possible, and to be on the lookout for suspicious behaviour.
Police have yet to locate the suspect, but do not believe them to pose a threat to daily activities.

Little information has been released on an incident which has RCMP asking residents in the Nass Valley to shelter in their homes.
Residents of Gitlaxt’aamiks and the surrounding area are asked to avoid leaving their homes as police search for a suspect armed with a gun.
RCMP contacted the Village Government last night to inform them of the search, but have revealed little else regarding the initial incident.
Residents are being asked to remain in their homes and lock their doors, and be on the lookout for any suspicious behaviour.
