Just over $2.4 million is being provided for 11 projects through the most recent intake of the Northern Healthy Communities Fund.
Of that, roughly $2 million will go towards nine projects being undertaken by the City of Terrace.
With the funding, the City will be able to hire two new community safety officers, a new city planner, and a number of development and engineering consultants.
Those consultants will help to address housing needs and social challenges, and assist with road design and public works planning.
Another $289,000 will go towards an advertising and marketing campaign for the District of Kitimat’s business and workforce retention program.
And $51,000 goes to the Village of Telkwa to fund an increase in hours for the fire chief, and have them take on the Emergency Program Coordinator role.
