A pair of commercial crab harvesters are facing hefty fines after committing several fisheries act violations along the north coast.
Truc Hoang Le has been fined a combined $20,000 after being found guilty of numerous violations committed in the Chatham Sound area in 2018.
Most of that is the result of failing to ensure his vessel’s electronic monitoring system was accurately monitoring the vessel 24/7.
Meanwhile, two violations committed near Port Hardy in 2019 have Sou Tac Ma facing a combined $44,000 in fines.
That comes after Ma was caught fishing for crab in Rivers Inlet while it was closed, and again the following week without a license.
Both have been found guilty in Provincial Court.
