An impaired driver was arrested after crashing his vehicle in Prince Rupert last week, but not before leaving a trail of destruction in his wake.
RCMP were called out to the corner of Hays Cove Avenue and Conrad Street at around 3:00 in the morning last Wednesday for reports of the crash.
A single vehicle had left the road, colliding with a retaining wall, stop sign, hydro pole, parked car, and nearby home in the process.
Significant property damage was dealt as a result, but luckily no injuries were reported.
Witnesses helped to identify the suspect, a 45 year-old man who had attempted to flea the scene.
After locating the man, officers obtained two breath samples, which revealed his blood alcohol content to be over twice the legal limit.
He was arrested and is now facing charges of operating a conveyance while impaired and failure to remain at the scene of an accident.
