An avalanche north of Stewart on Tuesday afternoon has claimed one life and left three others injured.
Last Frontier Heliskiing says the individuals were all part of a group of 5 heliskiers who were caught in the slide near the Bell 2 Lodge.
BC Emergency Health Services says they were first notified of the avalanche at approximately 3:30 in the afternoon.
They had one patient airlifted to hospital, though no details have been released on their condition, nor that of the three injured heliskiers.
It’s the seventh fatal avalanche in BC so far this year, and the 13th avalanche-related death through less than 4 months.
