BC is providing $50 million in fresh funding to reduce wildfire risks, and support the on-going stability of forestry-dependent communities.
Funding will go to the Forest Enhancement Society of BC, to be distributed among forestry projects province-wide.
Supported projects will: reduce emissions and wildfire risks, boost fibre supplies, and create and maintain jobs in the forestry sector.
But the funding will also support projects which accelerate Indigenous participation in the forest bio-economy.
Parties eligible for funding include: First Nations and local governments, First Nations-owned companies and forest tenures, small area-based tenures, tenure holders who don’t control a primary forest product manufacturing facility, and more.
