Terrace has officially been selected as one of twelve community hubs for the Province’s new Repeat Violent Offending Intervention Initiative.
As part of the initiative, each community will host a team of police, prosecutors and probation officers dedicated to tackling repeat offenders.
Each team will work with local stakeholders and existing programs to coordinate a response which meets the unique needs of each region.
According to the Province, the initiative will deliver serious consequences for prolific offenders, while ensuring targeted support services are available.
It will be supported by a $16 million investment over the next three years into the Special Investigation and Targeted Enforcement program.
That funding will help to expand investigative resources and enforcement capacity, allowing agencies to enhance coordination efforts.
Williams Lake, who also sent delegates to those meetings, and Prince George will also host community hubs.
