Northern Health has officially taken over operations at the Prince George Surgery Centre, as of today.
That wraps up a recent transition process, which saw the authority obtain the Centre’s lease, as well as all equipment at the facility.
A transition plan has also been developed for impacted staff, which will see Northern Health work to retain as many employees as possible.
With the new Centre in their portfolio, the Authority hopes to increase access to low-complexity surgical procedures for northerners.
But, it will also help them to ease the load on the University Hospital of Northern BC, allowing them to prioritize more complex surgeries.
Day surgeries currently offered at the Centre include: plastic, orthopedics, and cataract procedures.
