A new location comes with a new name for the Ksan Society’s Temporary Capacity Expansion Centre in Terrace.
Now known as Joe’s Place, the former Turning Points Shelter wrapped up its move to the old Elk’s Hall building earlier this month.
Its new name is in honour of Joseph Keeler, who’s daily dedication to overcoming his struggles inspired both staff and clients.
From the new location, the Society will offer 40 shelter beds for those in need who may also be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
In addition to 24/7 access to shelter and food, clients will be able to tap into full-time wrap-around services to help them fight their challenges.
Ksan says the former site was not designed to support the increase in demand or services, prompting the move to the new site at 2822 Tetrault Street.
According to Ksan, the new site features 24/7 security and maintenance, a clean sweep team, and privacy features to help address their concerns.
