One community and two projects in the northwest have been honoured by the Association of Consulting and Engineering Companies of BC.
Each of the recipients were honoured with Awards of Excellence at the Association’s annual gala, held in Vancouver last week.
McElhanney took home one of the awards for their multi-stage Kitimat Flood Risk Management Strategy.
Their approach saw them develop three sets of flood risk maps, which led to a number of innovative mitigation options for the District.
In addition to an award of excellence, the Woodworth Dam Optimization project in Prince Rupert took home the Lieutenant Governer’s Award.
Undertaken by BBA, the project saw the aging dam and water lines replaced, allowing the City to switch back to their primary freshwater source.
BBA’s approach used an innovative 3D printing method to reduce project costs by 17 percent.
And the District of Kitimat nabbed the Client of the Year award in honour of their collaborations with partners and the Haisla Nation.
